To improve the lives of the people in the area through an efficient, sustainable and planned development process that provides services in accordance with state policies, coordinates resources and involves public participation.The Horowpothana Divisional Secretariat is a key administrative body in the Anuradhapura District of Sri Lanka's North Central Province. It is situated in the town of Horowpothana, which lies approximately 52 kilometers away from Anuradhapura town along the Trincomalee Road.
Horowpothana is primarily an agricultural region, with a significant portion of its population engaged in farming. The area is known for its paddy fields and other crops, and the local economy is heavily reliant on agriculture. The divisional secretariat plays a crucial role in supporting these agricultural activities through various programs and services, including irrigation management and agricultural extension services.
The region is also rich in cultural and historical significance, with ancient sites and temples scattered throughout the area. The divisional secretariat is involved in the preservation and promotion of these cultural heritage sites, often working with local communities and government agencies.
The town's nickname, "Peace City," reflects the harmonious coexistence of diverse religious and ethnic communities within the area.
